I had a standing policy to not have class outdoors for lots of reasons. I broke that rule one very warm April afternoon when the heat came on at full steam in my classroom. Ironically this was the day the campus photographer was out and about and caught me. (Kenosha, Wisconsin 2002)

Faro del Castillo San Felipe del Morro is the lighthouse at the entrance to San Juan Harbor. It was rebuilt in 1908 and is one of the most prominent sites at El Morro. (San Juan Antiguo, Puerto Rico, 2003)

I was up early shooting the sunrise. I was just starting grad school and we were at an orientation program that seemed to never end. (Camp Perry, Ohio, 1986)

This is one of my favorite sunset shots, but it was just a quick shot without much planning or foresight–right place, right time. It was a “throwaway shot” that turned out well. (Honolulu, Hawaii, 2008)

This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Kenosha. Every time I’ve been there, food is good, but the “feel” of the place is 1960s. The bar overlooks Lake Michigan. The only thing it is lacking is people smoking–that would make it complete. (Kenosha, 2016)

I finally got my chance to walk across the Mackinac Bridge. It was a lovely day to walk across the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere. Great views, but don’t walk on the grate. (St. Ignace, Michigan 2014)

I had a series of offices with terrific views–aside from the view it was quiet and comfortable. I got a lot of work done here. (Kenosha, WI, 2018)

Kathleen and I took a spring break trip to the Netherlands. After that I was sold on cool weather spring break trips. (Amsterdam, 2019)

I got invited by a colleague on a trip to measure snowfall in the Arizona mountains. On the way home, we flew over Sedona near sunset. (Sedona, Arizona 2005)

A quiet autumn walk through Petrifying Springs Park. (Kenosha, 2012)
