One of my favorite bridge walk is the one over the East River across the Brooklyn Bridge. It opened in 1883 and goes from Brooklyn to lower Manhattan. I marvel at the the bridge towers and the suspension of the auto and pedestrian decks. (New York, New York, 2000)

I had one of those jobs that were routinely 10-14 hours per day. I was often in early to jet a jump on things before others arrived. The job came with this fabulous view of Lake Michigan which was even better at sunrise. (Kenosha, Wisconsin, 2011)

It’s no secret that I love a good bridge–particularly if it has a good history. The Hungerford Bridge crosses the Thames near Waterloo Station and the London Eye. I had a student from Seattle once and I used this image in class. I called on him to ask him some questions about Seattle and how it linked to the course topic. Evidently I took this from an angle he had never seen, because he did not recognize the city at all. (Seattle, 2015)

I love walking along the Chicago River. Like most urban rivers, it used to be more industrial. As the city grew, it became a more interesting visual space. I was headed to some meeting when I grabbed this shot. (Chicago, Illinois, 2014)

Bella the Greyhound was seldom in the mood to try new things. It was hot that day and we wanted her to cool off her paws. She was very skeptical about it all and was a bit skittish about the high surf. She did get her paws in. (Kenosha, Wisconsin, 2014)

Traveling to famous spots means crowds–but you can evade them a bit. Like most July days, Venice was overwhelmed with people. We wandered over a few bridges, and found a much quieter street with available seats for fine dining. It was a lovely and relaxing evening in our part of town. (Venice, Italy, 2011)
