This is a workhorse of a bridge carrying 7 lanes of traffic, 4 subway tracks, a bike lane, and a pedestrian lane. Originally named “Bridge Number 3,” the Manhattan Bridge sits just to the east of the Brooklyn Bridge over the East River. (New York, New York, 2000)

Although still a drawbridge, the Wells street bridge doesn’t see the kind of commercial traffic it used to. These days it lifts for tour boats and large pleasure boats. (Milwaukee, 2001)

One of my favorite bridge walk is the one over the East River across the Brooklyn Bridge. It opened in 1883 and goes from Brooklyn to lower Manhattan. I marvel at the the bridge towers and the suspension of the auto and pedestrian decks. (New York, New York, 2000)

I was on a road trip in 2015 when I stumbled on Deception Pass and the Canoe Pass Bridge. I made an unscheduled stop to walk around get a few photos and walk across the bridge. (Whidbey Island, WA, 2015)
