When I was working with a collegue on “water and the desert” we re-traced the one of the water sources for Los Angeles. This is the LA Aqueduct as it goes through the Owens Valley taking the the water form what would be the Owens River. (Owens Valley, California, 2005)

  • I love a good Public Market, and Seattle is one of my favorites. I remember when these markets were just markets. There were a few of them in Michigan near where I grew up. Even with the tourist influx, these are great places to get fresh food. (Seattle, Washington, 2012)

  • The Calatrava-designed Milwaukee Art Museum is spectacular when illuminated at night. I was a bit surprised to see it look so lit that night. (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 2025)

  • A surprise encounter with a Monarch butterfly having a grand time at the beach. (Fox Point, Wisconsin,, 2025)

  • The mid-afternoon sun backlit me as I shot photos down the black beach below. This is one of my favorite photos from that trip because I had fallen earlier in the week and smashed and scraped my face (pretty ugly) and you can’t see this here. (Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Iceland, 2024)

  • Got to stand at the southern edge of the tropics. For the photo on my desk, I removed the four people behind me from the image. Here, I need to be more real. (near Huacalera in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Argentina, 2025)

  • A few weeks ago you saw me on this line. I was working at a summer camp and we were on our day off. We all stopped for quick photos (US 31, Western Michigan, 1981)

  • There are very few photos of me traveling as a boy. Even so, I did travel quite a bit and I have memories of different trips. Here is one to visit my aunt and uncle (who was in the Navy). (Charleston, South Carolina, 1965)

  • I know that this is the 3rd photo of the Goðafoss horseshoe. It was just so striking from every angle. (Goðafoss, Iceland, 2025)

  • There is actually no problem with them. I joked with an Icelandic friend once that it seems that everywhere you turn around “there is ANOTHER beautiful waterfall!” I described this once as “beauty fatigue.” Kirkjufellsfoss is a prime example. It is a stunning little waterfall, dwarfed by other falls in Iceland and in this case not facing one of the most photographed mountains in the country (Kirkhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirkjufelljufell). You have to “turn around” from the site to get a shot of this. Still one of my favorites. (Grundarfjörður, Iceland, 2024)
